Who should complete this course?

This unit is a core unit for the Diploma of Cosmetic Tattooing, SHB50321. Anyone wanting to complete the diploma must complete this unit of competency.

The core units are designed to give you a comprehensive foundation of knowledge ready to choose the practical training that suits your cosmetic tattoo career goals.

The diploma is designed to suit all cosmetic tattooists, from the experienced professional wanting to expand their skills with the strongest possible qualification, through to the beginner wanting to kick-start their career with a depth of knowledge that is the new industry benchmark.

This unit is therefore designed for:
• Cosmetic Tattooists
• Beauty Therapists wishing to become Cosmetic Tattooists
• Individuals with no prior industry experience wanting to become a Cosmetic Tattooist

Expected course outcome/s?

• Statement of attainment for this unit on completion*
• In depth knowledge of colour theory and pigments directly relevant to cosmetic tattooing
• Practical skills map treatment designs for brows, eyes, lips, scalp micropigmentation and 3D nipple areola according to elements and principles of design including the Golden Ratio
• Knowledge of how design ideas can support treatment goals for individual client expectations and design requirements

How is this course delivered?

This course is delivered online, allowing you to complete the training in your own time, at your own pace. There is around 20 hours worth of online theory involved.

Students have 3 months to complete the course and can complete it anytime within the timeframe. The 3 months includes working through all the theory, tests, and practical demonstration components.

The practical demonstration consists of conducting a consultation and drawing/mapping a treatment area on 6 live models or clients. Photographic evidence and/or scans are required as per the instructions in the course.

Are there any specific course requirements?

The Practical Demonstration requires students to complete designs on 6 model clients, producing evidence of their design ideas. and completing documentation to support design conclusions.

Students will need to ensure access to the following:
• Internet access
• Computer/tablet/smart phone/or laptop for the online content and submissions
• Smart phone or camera to take photos
• Printer to print forms
• Drawing implements of your choice

Students assessment conditions requirements are as follows:
• An individual work station in an industry workplace or a simulated workplace set up for the purpose of skills assessment consisting of:
• Adjustable treatment chair or table with safe working access to both sides and ends
Drawing tools and equipment
• Clients with different client service requirements, who have the expectation that the services provided reflect those of a commercial business.

What is the enrolment process?

The following applies if you are undertaking this unit as a single unit of competency. If you are completing The Diploma of Cosmetic Tattooing, you should have already completed the following process and will not need to do so again.

Enrolments are only be handled during business hours Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
